Autumnal afternoon tea event – Sat 8 Nov

As a special request I’ve organised an autumnal themed afternoon event on Saturday 8 November. With mulled apple juice, hearty sandwiches, savoury tarts and cakes full of spice, it should be an afternoon tea to banish those autumn blues.

The price per person is £15 per person. Visit the events page to book. Hopefully I’ll see you soon!

March’s afternoon tea

My first afternoon tea event is nearly here. Due the experience of last year’s snow I thought I’d delay this year’s first event until the better weather arrived. March’s afternoon tea event is now fully booked but there are places available in May, July and September.

Here’s March’s menu if you want an idea of what to expect.

Next Saturday Lindley village is celebrating Apple Day. Starting from 10am in the heart of Lindley there will be apple related activites for all the family, including:

# apple bobbing – using nothing but your teeth you’ll have 20 seconds to catch an apple
# apple pie competition – bake a homemade pie and bring it along before 1pm so we can crown our first Lindley Apple Pie Baker of the Year
# apple greetings card competition sponsored by Gift – design an apple inspired card and take it to Gift before 5pm Friday (under 12s only)

Hope to see you and your apples next Saturday!

Afternoon tea returns in May

Hello afternoon tea fans.

After a short break, afternoon tea at Cafe Nouveau Home returns on Sunday 19 May from 1 – 3pm. It’s a fruity theme and we’ll be showcasing strawberries, raspberries and a host of other fruits. If you would like to book place, visit the booking link. I am now asking guests to pay when they book which will hopefully make it easier for everyone.

More dates will be coming soon.

Look forward to seeing you at Cafe Nouveau at Home.

Huddersfield’s First Upmarket Sunday

image

Today was the first Upmarket Sunday in Huddersfield, a new monthly market experience for Huddersfield with food, drink, craft and antique stalls.

I popped down at lunchtime and despite the cold there were a good number of stalls including a few unexpected ones such as the fruit and veg stalls which was nice to see. A few stalls that were advertised to be there weren’t this month which was a shame but hopefully they will be there in April.

I came away with some forced rhubarb and nectarines, a couple of cheeses (vintage gouder and gruyere) from Milk Street Fine Cheeses, a soured cherry and bourbon brownie from Brownies, a slice of apple crumble cake from Aunty P’s and a pork pie from Little Yorkshire Pie Co. And I met up with some fellow foodies!

If I’d not been planning on cooking lunch I’d have definitely got a pulled pork slider from El Kantina and glass of hot mulled apple juice from Simple Sencillo – I guess I’ll have to wait until next month!

I hope that there were enough visitors to make it worth while for the stall holders. Reading tweets from people that went and from the stall holders themselves there seems to be lots of postive feedback so fingers crossed it inspires more visitors.

Looking forward to the next Upmarket on Sunday 14 April.

Birthday give away

It may be tax return day but it’s also my birthday! So I thought I’d celebrate by offering a gift to inspire you to bake something new.

If you’d like to win this brand new Betty’s cookery school apron and a spatula just leave a comment about what is your favourite thing to bake before 9pm GMT on Sunday 3 February and I’ll pick a winner.

Enjoy your baking – I’m off to make my birthday cake!
